As part of its ongoing growth strategy, Winter&Company has commissioned GRUNER&FRIENDS to design an expansion of its headquarters in Basel. The new expansion will provide additional space to accommodate the company’s expanding operations and was designed to reflect Winter&Company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Our approach has been tasked with creating a modern, functional, and visually striking design that will seamlessly integrate with the existing building while also providing ample space for Winter&Company’s employees and visitors.
The expansion project is a significant investment for Winter&Company and is seen as a testament to the company’s long-term commitment to the paper industry and to its customers. The expansion building for Winter&Company’s headquarters in Basel has been conceptualized as a big box, formed of tiny packages. This architectural concept is inspired by the client’s business, which focuses on packaging and cover materials. The design aims to reflect the core values and principles of Winter&Company, while also creating a modern and functional space that seamlessly integrates with the existing building.
The building’s expansion is of an area of around 5,000 m2, while the existing building to be refurbished totals an area of around 7,000 m2. The first 4 floors house warehouses and logistic facilities, while office space is distributed on the upper 2 floors. Regarding the facade, the existing building’s facade is meant to be renovated, matching the expansion. For that purpose, we have chosen to use corrugated aluminium panels, perforated where needed, with a chrome-reflective material look. This choice of material was meant to provide a bold statement, that matches the identity of the client.
